Food for Thought
Church of Christ, Brookfield, IL
There is one central figure in history who touches the hearts and minds of all men. That
person is King Jesus the Christ. No matter where your earthly existence takes you the
reality of a supreme ruler and advocate confronts all mankind. How men deal with the
question of Jesus carries with it the mightiest of eternal consequences.
That there be a ruler of men there is no doubt. We act out our need of leadership in our
everyday lives. That there be a head to the body should be easy for us to figure out. A
responsible trustworthy, competent, representative puts us in a proper working condition.
The stomach the eyes the hands or ears are not suited to be the head. It is the same with
man, he needs a head to be in proper working order. Many try to fill this role for
themselves to very limited success. Others have tried to only deal with the one the suits
there on personal agenda as head. This only serves as long as one does what you expect.
That situation is no better than having yourself as head.
No, man must become subject to the real ruler of men. The one who made it possible for
us to be members of His Kingdom. Yes, there are many Kingdoms in this world. Yet we
do not speak of the worldly kingdoms. I speak to the Spiritual Kingdom that will have no
end. Kingdoms of this world will end. Rulers of earthly Kingdoms will come to an end as
well. America is great and we love her dearly, but she will come to an end. She will be
swallowed up by the greater Kingdom. Those who have made themselves subject to it’s
rule and ruler. This Kingdom is the one we speak of today in Daniel 7.
This is why the Church Matters because she is the Kingdom that has come and will have
no end. She is being Sanctified and one day will be Glorified in heaven eternally. You
must become a member of this Kingdom and a subject to it’s King. If you do not do so,
you have not dealt with the eternal question sufficiently. Make your King, King Jesus the
Christ and live with His subjects for all eternity.
